Our mission

Service is what holds us together.

Communities don't run on goodwill alone. They run on people who show up — on a random Tuesday, and for decades straight. That showing up is a thread, woven between all of us. And right now, it's fraying.

Why this matters now

We're more disconnected than we've ever been. Half of American adults say they're lonely — the Surgeon General calls it a health crisis on the scale of smoking. In 2003, the average American spent thirty hours a month with friends. By 2020, it was ten.

Careers move faster. Cities get bigger. Tech connects us to everyone except the people two doors down. And the most sober generation in modern history hasn't stopped wanting to gather — they're just looking for something real to gather around.

Service is that something. It always has been. The communities that endure aren't the ones with the loudest events or the slickest tools. They're the ones that take care of each other — and keep showing up.

That's the kind of community Yura is built for.

What we believe

Principle 1

Service is the strongest connective tissue a community has.

Every act of service — tiny or enormous — weaves people closer together. When service grows, community grows. When it's scattered across spreadsheets and inboxes, community thins out. The people doing this work deserve infrastructure worthy of it.

Principle 2

A volunteer is the heart of the work, not a row in a database.

Most volunteer software treats people like attendance: sign up, head count, hours logged, done. We think the journey is the point — the showing up, the growing into it, the becoming part of something. Tend to the volunteer, and the community tends to itself.

Principle 3

The people doing the most important work deserve the best tools.

Most volunteer platforms run on decade-old tech — clunky, slow, and built for compliance instead of connection. The groups holding society together got handed the industry's worst software to do it with. We're changing that. Yura is modern, designed for the way people actually serve, and made to grow with the communities using it.

What we promise

01

We will protect the thread.

Every hour logged, every volunteer recognized, every story kept. Nothing falls through.

02

We will strengthen it.

Real tools, real support, real respect for the work — built for how service actually happens, not how old software assumed it did.

03

We will help it grow.

The more people who find their way into service, the stronger every community gets. Yura exists to make that easier, warmer, and more connected — every single day.

This is the work of our generation. We're glad you're here for it.
